Still Making History: First Black Veteran's Day Grand Marshal in Gaston County, North Carolina

History was made in Gaston County, North Carolina this past Veteran's Day. This year’s Grand Marshal was Earlie Cathcart, who is, at 90 years old, a World War II-era veteran and member of the National Association of Black Veterans, or NABVETS.  He was the first Black man to address the masses as a part of the festivities.  He was also the special guest at the Senator's ceremony for the day. Here he is pictured below waving to the crowd during the parade.

Everyone who pays the one-time enrollment fee of $429 with no annual renewal fee starts out as a Marketing Consultants (MCs). They are now independent consultants and own their own "franchise" in the energy business.  Marketing Consultants build their businesses by signing up customers and consultants.  There is also an option to help organizations raise funds by sponsoring them as Ambit Affiliate Partners, but this will be discussed in another blog.

Ambit would like you to succeed and become a leader, which is possible through the successful implementation of their business plan.  The Ambit Compensation plan is structured to reward you for
not only building up your organization by gathering new customers and consultants, but also HELPING THOSE CONSULTANTS BUILD THEIR OWN TEAMS.  This is a very important principle that is built into Ambit's Compensation plan in the form of Leadership bonuses.  Obtaining Leadership positions is integral part of being successful in this business.  The bonuses will increase in size as you are promoted to higher positions.  They are paid on every qualifying new customer and new consultant that enters your organization through UNLIMITED levels (NOT JUST SIX!).

These are the Leadership positions available and what qualifies you to be promoted:

Can You Really Make up to $100,000 per Year as a Truck Driver?

You've heard about the money to be made by becoming a truck driver. And stop at any truck stop and you'll notice that there are countless trucking job magazines filled with advertisements from trucking companies looking for truck drivers. Many companies are even advertising the possibility of making up to $100,000 per year as an owner operator.

Is it true?

Yes, it's true!!! You can make a very good living with a trucking job. Why is this? For starters, there is a growing shortage of truck drivers in the USA. As the population increases, shipments of goods from overseas grow.  This causes an added demand to get these goods to and from ports. This also creates a higher demand for efficiency in domestic manufacturers to get goods shipped to their customers more quickly. The decline in the number of people entering the trucking field can be attributed to school curriculums pushing college as the only way to secure a good job, an all too common untruth. This has, however, created an environment in which you can make a very good living in a job that you'll enjoy.

BE PREPARED.

Driving a truck for a living is a very different lifestyle than an office or factory job. You will be able to travel as much or as little as you like depending on the job you select. You are responsible for your keeping your own schedule, and records, and with many companies you can take your spouse, or even your dog on the road with you. That's the reason that many people opt for trucking as their preferred method of making a living.

There are three major distinctions in the types of trucking jobs that are available.

1 - Owner Operators: An owner operator is a trucker that owns or leases his own tractor (18-wheeler) and is paid to haul goods for a single company that he is contracted to for a set amount per mile. This is typically the highest paying and most popular type of truck driving job because the driver will be building equity in his own truck, and has some control over the profits he or she can make. An owner operator is usually responsible for paying some or all of his fuel, and repair expenses for his truck.

2 - Company Drivers: A company driver is a trucker that is an employee of the trucking company that he drives for. A company driver may be paid by the hour, a flat rate per week, or by the mile, but will generally not have the same level of control over his income that an owner operator has, however, he is usually not responsible for purchasing or repairing his own truck.

3 - Independent Truckers: An independent trucker owns his own truck and hauls only the loads that he finds for himself, typically using freight brokers or websites like http://www.FindAHauler.com where he can search and bid on loads himself.  He is generally not contracted to any particular company, and has all of the risks and responsibilities of running a trucking company himself, while driving a truck. Many truckers prefer the Owner Operator role in order to have a steady supply of loads, and the corporate support from their contracted trucking company.

What will you need to get started?

The most important thing you'll need is a CDL (Commercial Drivers License) which will granted by the state and give you the right to operate a commercial semi truck. Standards for a CDL are set by the federal government, but are issued by your state license bureau. The CDL exam consists of a written as well as a skill component just like your regular driving exam. Most truckers attend a truck driving school where they will receive training on how to drive a Semi, as well as training on the written portion of the exam. Typically upon your completion of the driving school, you will be able to get your CDL. Many trucking companies run their own training programs for prospective drivers, so you may be able to complete your job search and then get some on the job training instead.

Searching for a Trucking Job:

There are several steps you can take when looking for a truck driving job. You can rely on your driving school to place you in a trucking job, however, finding your own job will give you the greatest choice of schedule, territory, and pay. To search for a trucking job, you may go to truck stops, and pick up a trucking magazine, there will be many advertisements there by companies looking for drivers. You may call some local trucking companies in your area, or you may wish to search for a truck driving job on the internet.

The internet has emerged as one of the best ways to look for a trucking job. There are websites such as http://www.findowneroperators.com that specialize in placing truckers with trucking companies. Here a prospective trucker can search through currently available jobs, by type, location, and more.

Trucking can be a very rewarding career choice, both financially and emotionally. Having the freedom to travel the country, while making more money than you could with most college degrees has made truck driving a very hot career choice for the new millenium.

The Advantage of Online Shopping and Delivery

Let's compare the length of time we would spend on purchasing an item if we were to use Boss Styles Store or Boss Wears instead of the "traditional" shopping method. Because we can search out specific items on Boss Styles Store or Boss Wears, that saves us time right there since we don't need to click on the store's website, then search by departments, then by sections, aisles, etc. Let's conservatively say that it takes us three minutes to search for and locate the item of our choice, in this example we will say a new washing machine.

Total time used so far: 3 minutes

Now we call the store clerk, have them move the washing machine (usually with a hand truck/dolly), take it to the register, wait while we pay and load it into our car for us to remove once we get home and... Oh, wait a minute; we don't have to worry about any of that! We simply place the order online. You can do that in about two minutes.

Total time used so far: 5 minutes

After submitting the order online, we're done! Five minutes and just two simple steps versus an hour to have the washing machine delivered TO YOUR DOOR. No lines, no waiting on clerks, no loading/unloading. Which do you prefer? That few hours can be used to spend more time with your family or do any of the many other tasks that allow you to kick back and enjoy the free time.

I have one more comment to make regarding online shopping with Boss Styles Store and Boss Wears. Having done both online shopping and the "standard" method of shopping in physical stores, I much prefer online shopping. The truth is I absolutely HATE lines, parking lots and loading/unloading my car. When I discovered online shopping, it was such a relief! For me, it's not just saving time that is of value to me. It's also less stress, and less hassle.

Deregulation: The Expanded View

Deregulation is the elimination or reduction of government control of how business is done, thereby spurring competition and moving toward a more free market. The savings are then passed on to the consumer. More millionaires came from deregulation than from any other change to businesses in America. This has happened in many major industries in the history of the United States.

The first plan to deregulate a major industry was put into place by the Nixon administration in late 1971. The proposal originally addressed rail and truck transportation, but was amended in the late 70's to early 80's, during the Carter administration to include air travel. The federal government held control over the operating rights for trucking service between major cities, and it usually gave such rights to large companies. With the elimination of government control the trucking industry saw a decrease in taxes and an increase in new trucks, loads and deliveries. The small and start-up trucking companies like Southern Freight Inc. were able to develop and grow by providing more localized, high-quality customer service to businesses. This company is a prime example of growth from deregulation. It began as a two-truck operation in 1980, and is now a successful company employing 175 people and 50 contractors in local, regional and long haul markets. Deregulation also helped existing companies, i.e. R.W. Bozel Transfer, Inc. and Werner Enterprises, Inc., expand into new service areas and form enterprises that provide additional services under one roof such as brokerage and freight forwarding. With the end of regulation, small carriers such as R.W. Bozel and Werner could compete on a level playing field, and their customer bases began to grow rapidly as a result of lower pricing and better service. Talk about the American dream!

The ocean industry experienced expanded service, lower rates, and higher productivity. The acts passed not only lessened barriers to enter into transportation markets, but also promoted more independent, competitive pricing among transport service providers. The rail industry also experienced increased productivity, decreased rate pricing, and increased profitability that can be attributed to deregulation.

Airlines also saw many benefits from deregulation. Routes and schedules were opened up to make it easier for upstart airline carriers to expand into new markets. Even today, low-cost carriers continue to challenge the “legacy” airlines that were in existence before deregulation (American, United, Continental, Northwest, US Air, and Delta) causing a paradigm shift. Even though deregulation did affect the movement of air travel, the infrastructure still remains subject to government control and economic twists i.e. inflation, etc. This means that airlines were only partially deregulated, which has still led to positive results. Air travel has increased and prices have fallen by up to 25% since the 1990's. Since deregulation, airlines have reconfigured their routes and updated their equipment to make improvements in efficiency and use of space.

"Since passenger deregulation in 1978, airline prices have fallen 44.9 percent in real terms according to the Air Transport Association. Robert Crandall and Jerry Ellig (1997) estimated that when figures are adjusted for changes in quality and amenities, passengers save $19.4 billion dollars per year from airline deregulation. These savings have been passed on to 80 percent of passengers accounting for 85 percent of passenger miles. The real benefits of airline deregulation are being felt today as never before, with LCCs increasingly gaining market share. The dollar savings are a direct result of allowing airlines the freedom to innovate in routes and pricing....

...As prices have decreased, air travel has exploded. The total number of passengers that fly annually has more than doubled since 1978. Travelers now have more convenient travel options with greater flight frequency and more nonstop flights. Fewer passengers must change airlines to make a connection, resulting in better travel coordination and higher customer satisfaction."

Telecommunications was the next major U.S. industry to be deregulated, spurred by the Telecommunications Act of 1996. The goal of this new legislation was to let anyone enter any communications business by opening up local phone markets, thus increasing competition in long distance and provided more convenient bundling and billing options regarding telephone, internet and television. This was proven to provide a boost to MCI and other companies challenging the supremacy of AT&T. AT&T was, prior to deregulation, a controlled or regulated monopoly which held exclusive rights to operate in specific areas. The Federal Communication Commission set rates for long-distance calls, while states had to approve rates for local and in-state long-distance calls. MCI Communications and Sprint Communications were able to win some of the business as a result of the end of AT&T's telephone monopoly, by proving in the process that competition could bring lower prices and improved service.

The newest wave of deregulation was that of the energy industry. This has driven energy rates down and made it easier for people to get into the energy business. People are now able to earn not just linear, but TRUE residual income. And you don't have to live in a service area to become a consultant!!! People across the country now have the right to choose their electricity and/or natural gas provider. Ambit Energy is a great choice, providing up to 30% savings! Residual Income... Why not?!

This is the time to put information together to make legal residual income. You might not live in a state where the service or product is offered, but you may know someone there. Just by changing their service or trying your product, you can save them money and make money in the process. How is it possible that there are successful executives in this type of business that don't live in this country? Because they knew someone who needed the product or service they were providing who knew someone who knew someone and so on. They utilized the power of word of mouth and referrals to make money. Multi-level marketing is putting the money back into our hands. Make the choice today to take your financial future into your hands.

The Light of the World

For years, people have been trained to believe that they would never get in the 1% of the world's population that are "wealth controllers." Poverty is a strategy to keep us broke, it is a condition used for a cause: to keep the wealthy in control.  Consider this: what other place in the world locks up poor people? It is inhumane. Why do people have to be flat on their face to get help? This business is changing the world. I was able to stumble across an MLM business that provides a product that is consumed unconsciously and purchased habitually. That same business also requires no inventory, no collections, no deliveries, no stockpiling, etc.  I don't have to go buy a bunch of electricity!!! LOL Imagine life without gas or electricity.  It operates lights, stoves, ovens, washers, dryers, cell phone chargers, computers, everything!  I am in the wave of the future. I am involved in providing a necessary utility at affordable pricing! Where, you ask? TEXAS, NEW YORK, ILLINOIS, PENNSYLVANIA AND MARYLAND... And more to come!  It's time to talk to everyone you know. It isn't for ANYbody, but it is for EVERYbody. Join the wave of the future, get involved.

The Power of Word of Mouth

"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives are mimicry, their passions a quotation." - Oscar Wilde (Irish poet, novelist, novelist, dramatist and critic 1854-1900)

Most people are followers. It is human nature. Companies know this. This is why they use us all the time for FREE advertisement. One person goes to a store and they tell 2 people who tell 4 people who tell more people and so on. They are using the power of word-of-mouth coupled with the power of duplication to create momentum, a buzz around the product or service they are providing. Once the buzz is generated, sales go through the roof! You must be that spokesperson for your business.  To use a popular person these days, take Charlie Sheen for an example.  He spoke out about tiger's blood.  That's the most random product on the face of the planet, but you know what? He talked about the benefits of tiger's blood so much that it sparked the interest of people and in turn created a buzz. Now, a friend of mine that owns a snow cone stand stated that the top selling flavor of snow cone for the past few weeks has been Tiger's Blood.  Now how's that for trickle down?  So you see, the more you talk about the benefits of your product and become a spokesperson for it, the more it will spark interest, create that buzz and ytrickle down into selling products. The only difference between how these strategies are used is that the large corporations DON'T PAY YOU and network marketing does. You can create a buzz by making recommendations to people you know about a product or service you are representing AND generate revenue for yourself in the process.

Case in point, I have an online store, http://www.bossstyles.com/ , that carries any and everything you could ever want, but it won't make me a dime if no one knows about it. That's like having $1,000,000.00 on an uncharted island. No one knows it's there unless you give them directions or a map, at least send up a smoke signal! We have to be able to communicate, which is the backbone of network marketing, to effectively create a buzz for success.

“Word of mouth is the best medium of all.” -William Bernbach quotes (American advertising executive, 1911-1982)

Many people have stated that network marketing is difficult, but I submit to you that it is truly simple.  One can never underestimate the power of word-of-mouth. This business is as simple as making a recommendation or suggestions.  When you look at it as a business of referrals and, in the case of Ambit Energy, helping others save money, it becomes easier to approach family and friends, and eventually other people.  Think about it!  We make recommendations daily and  NEVER get paid.

Consider these examples:

1. Someone walks up to you at work and asks where you get your hair cut because your hair cut looks wonderful. You  mention the name of the stylist or salon to them.

Right there, by referring them to the stylist or salon, you have just exercised network marketing. You have just made a referral.

2. You are at the shopping mall and someone stops you and tells you that they love your shoes.  They ask where you got them.  You tell them the name of the shoe store.

Again, you have made a recommendation as to where the lady should shop for shoes.  Now did the shoe store pay you for that? NO.

3. You pull up to Starbucks and pull out your phone as you jump out of the car.  You order a caramel macchiato and while waiting you get on Facebook and update your status to "At Starbucks!!! Love this stuff."

Well now you have endorsed Starbucks to your entire friend list, which may be 300 or 3,000 people. Didn't get paid for that either!

So as you can see the above is a demonstration of how we use referrals and recommendations to influence our friends and family to shop, get their hair done, buy coffee, etc. at the same places we do.  This is the power of word-of-mouth.  Most people are followers. Why not do the EXACT same thing, but get PAID to do it? Network marketing (MLM) companies are giving you the opportunity to do this.  Take Ambit Energy for example, YOU as a customer will save up to 30% on your energy.  You then tell your family, friends, acquaintances or coworkers about how much you are saving.  They are going to want to know how they can save too, so you tell them AND you get paid.  It's just that simple.  You are using the power of word-of-mouth.  This is the key to effective network marketing.  So, if you are that person who is excellent at making recommendations to your friends, THIS IS THE BUSINESS FOR YOU.

My POV on Network Marketing

“If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” - Anthony Robbins, Author, Speaker, and Self Help Guru

If you find yourself wishing you had the money you need to do the things you want, I believe Anthony Robbins said it the best when he made the above statement.  Traditionally, society is taught to go to work, clock in and out, and the company dictates how much they pay you and when. It is becoming increasingly more clear that this way of thinking is not beneficial.  The economy is just now recovering from a fall that occurred in the most part from people living beyond their means. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to tell yourself how much you get paid or when you can go on vacation? This is not impossible when you consider multi-level marketing as a viable option for going into business for yourself.

By definition, Multi-level marketing (also known as MLM or network marketing) is a business in which the sales force, usually considered self-employed, are paid not only for sales they personally generate, but also for the sales of others they recruit, creating a downline of distributors and a hierarchy of multiple levels of compensation.  This enables opportunities for advancement as well as the potential to generate residual income, depending on the product that you choose to market. For example, with Ambit Energy, the product that is marketed is electricity and natural gas, so the employed will be generating not only the linear income from the initial sale, but also residual income paid out from each month the energy customers are paying their bills.  There are many statistics supporting the stability of network marketing going into the future, one being that more millionaires will be created by this type of business than any type in history.  Here are a few quotes from some prominent businessmen and motivational speakers regarding network marketing.

Don't have the $$$ to start-up your franchise?

“Network marketing is the big wave of the future. It’s taking the place of franchising, which now requires too much capital for the average person.” — Jim Rohn, America’s Business Philosopher

Isn't that a pyramid scheme?

“I am often asked if Network Marketing is a Pyramid Scheme. My reply is that corporations really are pyramid schemes. A corporation has only one person at the top, generally the CEO, and everyone else
below.” — Donald Trump, Entrepreneur and Author

I have other big dreams in life. I don't have time to pursue another business idea.

“If you are a person with big dreams and would love to support others in achieving their big dreams, then the
network marketing business is definitely a business for you. You can start your business part-time at first and then as your business grows, you can help other people start their part-time business.
This is a value worth having – a business and people who help others make their
dreams come true.” — Robert T. Kiyosaki, Entrepreneur and Author
